ChatGPT for Empowering Foreign Language Teaching: Scenarios and Strategies

摘要:

ChatGPT代表了目前语言智能技术发展的最高水平,它合信息搜索、机器翻译和对话生成等功能于一体,以强大的生成能力给人类生活带来了颠覆性的影响。外语教学关乎语言能力提升和知识传授,势必会受到语言智能技术发展的直接影响。本文在介绍ChatGPT功能与特性的基础上,分析了ChatGPT在外语教学过程中的应用场景和存在的潜在问题,并提出了针对这些问题的宏观应对策略。在人机共生时代,外语教学工作者应坚守育人初心,改革教学范式,注重创新能力,努力提高智能素养,增强智能伦理意识,培养出更多高素质的外语人才。

Abstract:

ChatGPT, which reflects the level of language intelligence, integrates information searching, machine translation, and dialogue production with its powerful generation ability, potentially representing a technological revolution. Foreign language teaching is related to the cultivation of language ability and knowledge transfer and is bound to be directly affected by the rapid development of language intelligence. On the basis of introducing the functions and characteristics of ChatGPT, this paper analyzes the applications and challenges of ChatGPT in foreign language teaching. As a response to these potential problems, this paper proposes several general strategies. As the integration of humans and artificial intelligence intensifies, foreign language teaching should adhere to its fundamental goal of educating students, reform its teaching paradigm, seek to innovate, strive to improve language intelligence literacy, enhance language intelligence ethics awareness, and cultivate more high-quality foreign language talents.
