论当代语言学理论与外语教学的接口问题

On Contemporary Linguistic Theories and Foreign Language Teaching

摘要:

本文所说的当代语言学理论包括当代形式派、功能派、认知派的前沿理论,也包括结构主义语言学理论;本文所说的外语教学,包括汉语作为第二语言教学。讨论当代语言学理论与外语教学接口问题,实际是要回答两大问题:一是外语教学是否需要当代语言学理论?二是外语教学对语言学科的理论建设是否能起到一定的助推作用?本文通过具体事实对上述两个问题作出肯定的回答。本文最后指出,当代语言学理论与外语教学可以接口,而且必须接口。外语教师学习、掌握好当代语言学理论并自觉运用于外语教学,在具体教学中善于将学术语言转化为教学语言,这是解决好接口问题的关键。为此,外语教师,包括汉语教师在内,不要也不能只做一个“教书匠”,而一定要使自己既成为一个优秀的教师,同时又成为一名出色的研究者。

Abstract:

The theories of contemporary linguistics in this paper include theoretical frontiers of contemporary formalism, functionalism, cognitivism, and structuralist linguistics. The foreign language teaching in this paper includes the teaching of Chinese as a second language. To discuss the connection between contemporary linguistic theories and foreign language teaching is in fact to answer two main questions. First, whether or not foreign language teaching requires contemporary linguistic theories? Second, whether or not foreign language teaching plays a role in promoting the theoretical construction of the language discipline? This paper gives affirmative answers to the above two questions through specific facts. Finally, it is pointed out that contemporary linguistic theories can be connected with foreign language teaching and must be connected. The key to solving the problem is that foreign language teachers should learn and master contemporary linguistic theories and consciously apply them to foreign language teaching, using appropriate teaching language converted from academic language. Therefore, foreign language teachers, including Chinese teachers, should not only be a “teacher”, but should become an excellent instructor and outstanding researcher at the same time.
