Abstract: The paper suggests that contemporary feminist translation theory, in explaining the emerging translation texts by third-world/minority women translators, shows a strong white elitist tendency. This tendency, however, implies the anti-historical trend from the very onset of the theoretical construction of feminist translation theory. Via her analysis of the famous female writer-translator Eileen Chang’s Chinese-English translations, with a focuson Chang’s changing subjectivity as a female translator, the author points out the theoretical dilemma and analyzes the theoretical weaknesses in contemporary feminist translation theory.
