Abstract:

As the aim of Master of Translation and Interpreting (MTI) education is to train professional translators and interpreters, MTI needs to increase its connections to the translation market and the language service industry. As the translation accreditation test plays a crucial role in the translation market, it is essential to establish a link between MTI education and the translation accreditation test. The present study presents an investigation of the status quo regarding the connection between translator and interpreter training and the translation accreditation test, both within and outside of China, and suggests a connection mechanism in China between the two. Consisting of three parts, namely the guarantee mechanism, the execution mechanism, and the evaluation mechanism, the connection mechanism is intended to bring the MTI education committee, the organizing body of China Accreditation Test for Translators and Interpreters (CATTI), the MTI training units, and teachers together to strengthen the connections among them. It is hoped that linking MTI education and the translation accreditation test can help to ensure that the training objectives of MTI education are met, to promote the development of the translation accreditation test, and to enhance the professionalism of the translation market and the language service industry.

摘要:

作为一种专业学位教育,MTI教育需要加强与翻译行业及语言服务业的联系,而翻译资格考试在翻译行业中的地位和作用决定了在MTI教育和翻译资格考试之间建立衔接机制的必要性。本研究调研分析了国内外专业翻译人才培养和翻译资格考试的衔接现状,在此基础上,提出我国MTI教育和翻译资格考试的衔接机制应当由保障机制、执行机制和奖惩机制3个部分组成,要求MTI教育和翻译资格考试的组织与管理部门、MTI培养单位以及MTI专业教师积极行动起来,共同促进两者的衔接,从而保证MTI教育培养目标的实现,促进翻译资格考试的健康发展,并最终推动我国翻译行业和语言服务业的职业化进程。
