Construction coercion has always been regarded as one effective means of studying non-conventional phenomena of language. In recent years, some researchers has started to pay close attention to lexical coercion because words have their own meanings and they can influence construction. This paper proposes bidirectional coercion of construction coercion and lexical coercion in order to study nonconventional phenomena of language. Research findings show that this kind of bidirectional coercion can offer more sufficient interpretation to non-conventional phenomena of language.

With two predicates and one argument, the English tough-construction has its own unique syntactic and semantic properties.Syntacticians, under the framework of principles & parameters, have put forward several proposals for its derivations:argument movement,non-argument movement,side-ward movement, and copy-raising,etc.However,all these proposals are either in conflict with Thetacriterion and/or Case-filter,or in the confusion of the argument and non-argument movements, thus being unable to provide an adequate account for its derivational mechanism. The present article proposes that the core question that should be dealt with under the framework of Minimalist Program is to explore the motivations for the theta-role sharing by both the subject and the null operator and to crystalize how such sharing is materialized.

“Literariness”lies in the heart of literary works, consequently the translating of literary works attaches much emphasis to the representation of literariness.Viewed from the textual level,a successful recreation is embodied by a dedicate rendering of such details as the narrative structure, the rhythm and the unique rhetorical devices coined by the author.Hence the translator is required to interfere in the“forming process”of the meaning and recreate with innovative talents.Backed up with Benjamin’s well-cited theories on literary translation,a further analysis on the advantages and disadvantages of contemporary fiction translation on the part of literariness is conducted in this essay, with the American translator Howard Goldblatt’s The Moon Opera,an English translation of Bi Feiyu’s novella Qingyi as a perfect example.

There are two versions of Lu Xun’s novels translated by the Yangs:Volume One of Lu Xun Selected Works(the second
edition of 1980),and Selected Stories of Lu Hsun(the third edition of 1972).In order to gain a better understanding of the characteristics
of the Yangs’ translation, this paper compares differences between the two versions of the New-Year Sacrifice at the linguistic level, and by the
way of qualitative analysis, reveals the essential differences. It has shown that the 1980 edition better conveys the original style owing to the
different cultural positions, translation principles and decisions taken by translators under the resultant action of powers, which deepens the
understanding of the Yangs’ translation, cultural positions, translation principles and decision-making in translation.

Zeng Juezhi,a Chinese translator and an expert on French literature, proposed his view on translation in 1931,“a good translator must also be a good critic”,which is discussed in this article.Based on a detailed analysis of his Chinese translation of Atala, the article specifically addresses the question of how Zeng Juezhi applied literary criticism in his literary translation. With his critical consciousness,Zeng was undoubtedly ahead of his time in spite of the fact that he was not free from the influence of his time and that his translations had their weaknesses. His view of translation sheds some new light on our translation studies.

Abstract:In recent years, with increasingly frequent international exchanges, simultaneous interpretation is increasing on a large scale. How to interpret simultaneously and efficiently is an issue of great importance.Mr.Gile’s Effort Model shows reduction of the interpreter’s memory load is necessary in order to carry out a successful simultaneous interpretation. This thesis makes an analysis of and a comparison between Chinese and Japanese word order, and further probes into the division rules of sense groups. This study will hopefully be both of some help and some practical value to Chinese and Japanese interpreters with regards to effectively reducing memory load and better implementation of syntactic linearity.

Zamiatin’s masterpiece We has been read as an anti-utopian fiction against Soviet totalitarianism in the 20th Century. However, seen against the history of utopian literature of the West,Zamiatin’s contemplation in We is not confined to his temporal and national setting.Instead,he extends his horizon to mankind and human history at large. The seemingly anti-utopian We has a utopian undertone, and the utopian thought in We is to a great extent metaphysical.

As a realistic writer,Joyce Carol Oates has disclosed the ecological problems in the American society in the 20th century. This essay has studied her four representative novels to explore her thought of animal care by adopting the theories of animal conservation from the perspective of ecological ethics. The images of animal protectionists resisting hunting and saving animals have displayed her thought of caring about animals’ life. She has expressed her thought of endowing animals’ right of existence, her care of animals’ lives and her ethical care of reverence for animals. Her nonanthropocentric position has exhibited her transcendence of the barriers to nonanthropocentrism. This can edify contemporary people’s thought of animal conservation.

Abstract:This paper aims to demonstrate a strong awareness of body politics in Alice Walker’s highly acclaimed novel,Color Purple
after textual and theoretical close-reading.This novel not only reveals the stark truth of how black women’s bodies have been mutilated, but
also demonstrates three kinds of strategies of constructing gender identity by means of eros, voilence and writing, respectively represented
by Shug,Sophia and Celie.Among these strategies of body protest,Celie’s writings, the cultural encoding of the black women’s claim and
resistance,is the most effective and appropriate way for female blacks to construct their identities. This paper,as the product of “the turn of
the politics” in literary thoery, will bring enlightenment to those women who are still exploring their gender identity.

This study in use of the FLCAS aims to investigate the status quo of the ethnic minority college learners’ foreign language (FL)classroom anxiety in the remote mountainous areas, the relationship between their classroom anxiety and 4 independent variables(i.e.,gender,field of study, level of academic year, level of college)respectively.Related causal factors contributive to their FL classroom anxiety are also analyzed. The results of data analysis show that the overall level of their FL classroom anxiety is moderate although, the frequency of the subjects’ FL classroom anxiety mean scores is higher than that of the college learners in other domestic or overseas areas;and there are significant differences between their FL classroom anxiety and some independent variables.Meanwhile, the present study points out the necessity of factor analysis with an emphasis on CA,TA,and FNE that Horwitz et al.conclude as the three constructs of their FLCAS as well as three main causal factors in nature of foreign language classroom anxiety. However, these three constructs are too general to be used for simply classifying the anxiety causal factors of various subjects in various places. Therefore,Exploratory Factor Analysis was employed with factors extracted, which are internally related with classroom anxiety arousals in connotation, some names of which are pparently different from those in previous studies both in description and percentage of variance. The researcher makes some discussion as to how to alleviate and eliminate college learners’ classroom anxiety in order to improve the quality of FL teaching and learning.
