Abstract:

Guided by Translator Behavior Criticism theory, this paper presents a descriptive study of the group of domestic self-translators. From the extra-translational perspective, this self-translator group, due to their dual identities as authors and translators, have three main motivations for self-translation, which are to expand their own readership and to enhance their literary influence, to self-translate due to ideological reasons, and to translate for research purposes. Moreover, translator literacy places greater emphasis on bilingual writing skills. From the intra-translational perspective, the self-translator group has focused mainly on “truth-seeking” in meaning on the micro level and the “utility-attaining” function on the macro level, and attempted to strike a balance between “truth-seeking” and “utility-attaining”. This study proposes a cooperative translation mode of “Self-translation + Others Post-editing” to provide a more appropriate and effective self-translation mode for Chinese literature.

摘要：

本文以译者行为批评理论为指导，从翻译内和翻译外两个视角对国内自译者群体进行描述性研究。研究发现，从翻译外视角而言，国内自译者群体具有作者及译者的双重身份，其自译动因主要有3种：扩大读者群和增强文学影响力；由于战争、政治等原因进行自译；为进行翻译研究而翻译。译者素养更强调双语写作能力，国内自译者群体均是能够进行双语写作且具备翻译能力的大家。从翻译内视角而言，相比他译者，自译者群体在微观层面以意义的“求真”为主，宏观层面则以功能的“务实”为主，且拥有自译者群体独特的介于“求真”与“务实”之间的行为模式。本研究提出“自译+他者译后编辑”的合作自译模式，以期为中国文学的发展和中国文化“走出去”提供更完善、更高效的自译模式。
