Abstract:

Starting from the divergence and convergence of the current linguistic, socio-cultural, and cognitive paradigms of Translation Studies and drawing on the research of Social Cognition, this article introduces the concept, question and methodology of Socio-cognitive Translation Studies. It is proposed that translation be viewed as social cognition, that is, an interlingual operation shaped by the translator’s perception, interpretation, and conceptualization of the social world. Facilitated by the conceptual tools, theoretical and methodological models of Social Cognition, this combinatory approach may help to reach a more inclusive and coherent account for the ontology and methodology of Translation Studies, to raise some new questions meaningful both theoretically and practically, and to shed some new light on the research of the translator’s behavior.

摘要:

本文从翻译学的语言学、社会文化和认知科学三大研究范式的分歧与融合出发,汲取社会认知研究的理论和方法,探讨翻译社会认知研究的概念、问题和方法。本文提出:翻译是一种社会认知,即一种基于译者对社会世界的感知、理解和概念化的语际操作。社会认知研究为译者行为研究提供了新的概念工具、框架和方法。翻译社会认知研究有助于研究范式的融合,有助于建立具有包容性和连贯性的翻译学本体理论和方法论,并能提出和回答一些具有理论价值与现实意义的新问题,为译者行为研究提供了一条新的路径。
