Having always been used in many senses, the history of the concept“Romanticism” has a kind of complicated relationship to modernity, rationality, secularization and various philosophical assumptions concerning with them, and to the aesthetic taste, the criteria of judgment, and cultural milieu as well, in the context of grand theories in the turn of 18th and 19th centuries. Then, the history of concepts within the complex connections with history of intellectual, critical, political ideas has become the object of interdisciplinary studies. However, we could discern three strains in the narrative tradition. Firstly, according to the historians, as one of the most intractable and unconstricted concepts,“Romanticism”may, properly speaking, be a dangerous heterogeneity, which is possibly the roots of historical disasters. Secondly, from the perspectives of literary criticism and compared with classicism, it seems to us that there have been, among Romantics in diversity, some common opinions about poetry, poetic imagination and its characteristics, the relations of man and universe, with the convergent orientations in poetic modes and its rhetorics. Finally, in the history of political thoughts, it may be asserted that the essence of Romanticism consists of a certain political decisionism, laying claim that every individual has its own right to actualize the noble will to freedom, self-assertion, self-determination of its destiny, and choice of its future.

According to the adaptation theory, the process of language communication is a process of making multiple choices in order to meet the communication requirements. In this theoretical point of view, dialogue in the novel can be regarded as a process of decision making in order to meet the communication requirements in the universe of the novel. Specifically, the dialogue between the characters is a special form of language use. It is an important part of a novel. Therefore, the quality of the translation of the dialogue has a direct impact on the wholeness, readability, and the integrity of the information transmitted in the translated version of the novel. Since translation of the dialogue is an indirect social activity, which is affected by the factors from different contexts, many choices have to be made in order to keep the dialogue adaptive during the process of dialogue translation. From the perspective of the adaptation theory, by comparing the two different translated versions of Strange Tales from Make-Do Studio by Pu Songling, this essay analyses the role of the adaptation theory in translated dialogue.

Within the PT of MP combined with the derivational symmetry hypothesis, this paper clarifies the fact that the nature of cyclic phasal derivations and multiple spell-out（MSO）is dynamic spell-out. And the phases that function as cyclic spell-out units substitute multiple spell-out and single cycle operations with periodic transfers to interfaces for multiple cycles. Particularly we testify the optimal linearizationand specify the redefinition of cyclic spell-out domain （SOD）along with dynamic spell-out and projection with labels. Under strong minimalist thesis（SMT）and NTC, this article reanalyzes the phasal evidence for syntax- phonology interface and the interface conditions i.e., linearity and distinctness conditions imposed by AP/SM PHON interface system. Asymmetric merge is the essential condition of linearization.Under interface conditions , the derivations reducing computational complexity motivate phasal cyclic linearization.

Based on an English-Chinese parallel corpus built by the author herself，this study observes the lexicalization and syntactic collation of the PATH concept of MOTION event．It shows that PATH lexicalization patterns in English and Chinese are of a Distributive nature．The PATH concept is lexicalized through many different classes of words and structures besides the verb roots，prepositions and particles． Other linguistic units such as particle phrases and constructions can also express the concept．Sometimes more than one linguistic units are combined to express a PATH concept．Besides，in expressing a PATH concept，English and Chinese have different sentence configuration patterns in demonstrating the contrast of BOUNDEDNESS and UNBOUNDEDNESS feature，which indicates the contrast of BOUNDEDNESS feature can be an important syntactic-semantic element in sentence construction．

In recent years, with the strengthening of Chinese economic and comprehensive power, the strategy of Chinese culture going global has been increasingly called for and the spread of Chinese learning to the West has been intensified. Under such circumstances, the study of the translation, dissemination and influence of Chinese literature becomes an important research field. On the basis of sorting out the history and present situation of the dissemination of Chinese novels in Great Britain, this paper will analyze the features of their translation and dissemination so as to provide some implications for its transmission abroad.

Metaphor is not only a linguistic phenomenon but also a way of thinking and metaphorical concept system．This paper explores computer English metaphor from the cognitive perspective，puts forward six translation strategies with specific examples and concludes that transferring method is the priority strategy in translating computer English metaphor，while the others are complementary translation methods．

In recent year, the entertainment-oriented rewriting has been increasingly popular in the subtitle translation of some English movies. Based on the Defamiliarization Theory put forward by Russian Formalism, this paper suggests that this trend deviates from the traditional norms of subtitle translation and entertains the target audience by making use of the defamiliarizing effect brought about by Internet catchwords and the striking contrast between the Eastern and Western culture. This paper holds that the abuse of defamiliarizing methods has weakened the effect to the degree that the target audience begin to be tired of entertainment-oriented rewriting in English movie subtitle translation.

The theme of ‘time’ in Virginia Woolf’s work is a difficult subject for many researchers. Woolf, herself, also says that there are two kinds of times in her works—time on the clock and time in the mind. In the character’s mind, time is cut into several parts, incorporating the jump of individual consciousness, and the readers follow the character coming and going between the past, present and the future. Every different period of time is given the characteristic of spatiality. The story is unfolded during each spatial time. This article discusses the spatiality of time in Woolf’s two works—Mrs Dalloway and To the Lighthouse.

Chuang Tzu’s thoughts, which have a far-reaching impact on literature, especially in terms of methods and theories of literary creation, is an important source of Chinese ancient literary theory. The literature works of Park Ji-won are deeply influenced by the Chinese literature, and permeated with the aesthetic thought and art style of Chuang Tzu. Based on the analysis of Park Ji-won’s theory of literary creation, this paper explores Park Ji-won’s awareness and acceptance of Chuang Tzu’s thoughts, as well as his unique writing style.

Edna in The Awakening experiences the spatial migration from the large double cottage to the Grand Isle to the pigeon house and finally to the sea, which not only demonstrates her gradual escape from the patriarchal space, but also indicates the whole process of the awakening, activating and the ultimate destruction of her feminine subjective consciousness. Based on Henri Lefebvre’s spatial triad and Foucault’s theory of Heterotopia, this paper reinterprets the image of Edna and comes to the conclusion that Edna has always been confined to the patriarchal cage during her spatial migration and that her final plunge into the sea is an illustration of her internalization and obedience of the patriarchal discipline instead of answering the call of the feminine self-awareness featuring freedom and independence.

Aimed at the disadvantages of the present foreign language teaching modes in listening, the construct of teaching mode for autonomy platform learning in listening is proposed. With a network platform as the base, autonomous learning competence will be enhanced by such strategies as students’ monitoring with teacher’s supervision, emphasis on learning depth and width, together with upgrading examinations. Teachers’ teaching guidance and research will be facilitated and unified.

This paper aims to study the influence of self-esteem and motivation on the learning anxiety of Japanese majors. The research results show that greater interest in Japanese culture can suppress learning anxiety when students have lower self-esteem. The lower self-esteem is prone to learning anxiety when students have higher motivation in test, communication or entertainment. Learning anxiety can be relieved by adjusting students’ self-esteem and learning motivation.
