Li Xinjian / Zhang Feifei / Hua Yun
Journal of Beijing International Studies Universit, 2014, 36(5): 11-.
It is widely accepted that women are overall more constrained in their leisure than men, frequent research on leisure constraints of females has been conducted, while leisure conditions and constraints of men are ignored. This paper focuses on men’s leisure conditions and constraints, based on the questionnaires and data about civil leisure condition jointly carried out by China’s Tourism Economy Research Center and Netease company. According to analysis by SPSS, we can conclude that(1)there is no significant difference between men’s leisure satisfaction and that of women, and their satisfaction is at low level;(2)time, income, convenience of leisure place are the main factors accounting for leisure constraints of males;(3)variability can be found among men in terms of age, occupation, education, income, and residence;(4)significant differences among men in terms of entertainment activities and cultural activities in satisfaction, library and museum are in abundance. These findings can help government and enterprises to have a better understanding of the conditions of men’s leisure and its constraints, in addition, serve as reference in making effective policies to eliminate the constraints and improve men’s leisure quality.

Tao Hong / Wang Xia / Wu Xiaogen
Journal of Beijing International Studies Universit, 2014, 36(5): 25-.
The projects sponsored by science foundation reflect the current research focus of the discipline. This paper makes statistics and word frequency analysis on all tourism research projects sponsored by National Natural Science Foundation, National Social Science Foundation, the Education of Humanities and Social Science Research Foundation, and National Tourism Administration Foundation from 2004 to 2013. The research indicates that the number of the projects sponsored by science foundation increased year by year, yet the distribution of researchers and study cases are unbalanced. The hot word frequency of tourism projects sponsored by four kinds of foundation poses a difference which covers seven hot areas, including tourism industry research, tourism resources development and protection, eco-tourism and eco-environmental impact of tourism, tourism flows and travel behavior, rural tourism, and cultural heritage tourism, etc. The research methods are diversified, and the number of cross-disciplinary researches is increasing. The study features the diversification of tourism research with further expansion and in-depth penetration.

Zhu Shihui
Journal of Beijing International Studies Universit, 2014, 36(5): 65-.
Leisure is the activity that people volunteer to participate to free themselves from pressures outside. Leisure is not only the indispensable part in urban residents’ normal life, but also the focus of researchers’ attention. This paper, based on the statistics in China General Social Survey in 2006(CGSS2006), classified urban residents into six categories based on their participation frequency in leisure activities. Although these categories of male and female are quite similar, the total leisure frequency of female urban residents are lower than male urban residents. The leisure activities for female are studied in the light of low frequency, press and music preferred, traditional, high frequency type, and home staying type. On the whole, women urban residents participated less in leisure activities and prefer the participation at home. Meanwhile, from the result of multinomial logistic regression, those women urban residents who are younger, highly educated, out of work, and happier in their life, participate more in leisure activities.

Touriological Case Research from the Disciplinary Construction Perspective: Design and Methods
Chen Maichi
Journal of Beijing International Studies Universit, 2014, 36(5): 78-.
For the crucial phase of independent touriological discipline construction, it has been imminent to refine, examine and construct the theoretical system and academic schools of touriology with scientific and precise research methods. In Chinese touriological research, however, there are many serious problems and shortcomings, whereas in urrent touriological academic circles there is too much emphasis on quantitative research, which lacks empirical analysis of genuine disciplinary value with less innormative qualitative research. Case research is an interdisciplinary and cross-paradigm research method for specific contexts. Avoiding the disadvantages and vulnerabilities of touriological qualitative and quantitative research methods, touriological case study research would promote touriological disciplinary construction effectively. Based on China’s domestic touriological phenomena and problems, touriological case study research of interdisciplinary and multi-method study will prove to be an efficient study research of touriological disciplinary construction and theoretical
innovation of China Touriological School.
