Abstract: In Systemic Functional Grammar，modality is considered an important set of resources for the expression of interpersonal meaning and can be realized by modal verbs，modal adjuncts，expansion of the predicator and modal metaphors，etc．Since interpreting is an act of meaning exchange involving three parties，the reproduction of interpersonal meaning in the TL is essential to the success of interactions．The paper，adopting a systemic functional approach，analyzes the modal patterns of interpretation of a Chinese Premier’s press conference and calls for attention to the importance of skillful manipulation of various modal devices in reproducing the SL’s interpersonal nuance and thus achieving parallel communicative effect in the TL．

摘要： 在系统功能语法中，情态是表达人际意义的重要资源，可以借由情态动词、情态副词、谓语扩展式和情态隐喻等手段体现。口译活动涉及三方交际，是一种意义传递行为，人际意义的再现对口译的成功至关重要。本文从系统功能语法的情态角度切入，分析了一场总理记者招待会口译的语篇特征，并借此强调口译过程中熟练驾驭各类情态手段对呈现源语的人际内涵和保证交际效果的重要性。
