Abstract:

Against the background of the transition from English for General Purposes to English for Academic Purposes, this study adopts a qualitative, multi-case approach to explore how and why teachers change during the process of curriculum reform from three perspectives, namely teaching activities and materials, teaching practice, and teachers’ attitudes. The results have indicated that college English teachers’ changes are multidimensional, and are affected via the concurrent influence of the nation’s practical needs and curriculum requirements, the students’ needs and feedback, as well as the teachers’ cognition and reflection. In order to adapt to the teaching requirements and objectives of the new curriculum, teachers constantly implement innovative methods and diversified teaching activities, and explore and adjust their teaching practice.

摘要:

当前,我国有相当一部分的大学英语教师正面临从通用英语教学向学术英语教学的课程转型。以此为背景,本研究采用多例个案的质性研究方法,从教学材料与活动、教学实践、教师心理3个维度分析了转型中大学英语教师改变的过程及原因。结果显示,从通用英语教学转型到学术英语教学,教师改变的过程具有多维度的特征。由于受到国家需求与课程要求、学生需求与反馈、教师认知与反思等多重因素的共同影响,教师在转型的过程中不断尝试新的教学方法,开展多样化的教学活动,持续探索并完善自己的教学实践,以适应新课程的教学要求,完成新课程设定的教学目标。
