Abstract:

This paper tries to address the innate anti-Romantic impulse of Edinburgh Review，reaching out for the political implications hidden behind  the  literary  taste and values．Studying English  literature  from  the perspective of Cultural Studies，it points out  that Edinburgh Review，along with other  literary  journals，took part  in  the battle  for cultural hegemony between bourgeoisie and aristocracy．Edinburgh Review manipulated  the mainstream  literary discourse  in  the early years of  the 19th century  in Britain．With  the aesthetic  ideology of  the bourgeoisie  in vision，it helped  to shape  the cultural values for  the younger generations  in Britain．This paper  investigates  the  important role that literary journals play in the course of politics and history，shedding some light on the study of English literature from the angle of Cultural Studies．

摘要： 本文旨在研究《爱丁堡评论》自创刊伊始就带有的反浪漫主义倾向，分析这种文学价值取向背后的政治涵义。本文从文化研究视角切入英国文学研究，指出以《爱丁堡评论》为代表的文学期刊如何参与到19世纪初期英国资产阶级和贵族阶层文化领导权的斗争之中，其中的反浪漫主义取向在一定程度上操纵了19世纪前期英国的主流文学评论话语，按照资产阶级兴味在审美意识形态上塑造了英国年轻一代的文化价值观。本文关注文学期刊在社会政治和历史进程中所起的重要作用，对于从文化角度拓展英国文学研究具有一定的参考意义。
