Abstract: This paper looks into the two outstanding American flms named Thelma and Louise and The Joy Luck Club produced in 1990s. From the sociological perspective and by means of a positivist approach, it comparatively analyses the different female roles, personal characters, codes of conduct, psychological traces and life destinies as are revealed in the flms concerned. Thus it is intended to show the huge interactions between flms as  important socio-cultural media and American socio-culture per se. The  treats of  the  female  roles and  their social encounters re?ect many aspects of  the American social movements  (e.g.  feminism) and hot social  issues during  that historical span．Such multi-angled expression of the American flms in 1990s bears a signifcant impact on the feminist ideas in general.

摘要： 本论文选取了20世纪90年代美国出品的《末路狂花》和《喜福会》这两部杰出的女性电影。作者从社会学视角出发，采用实证研究的方法，通过比较分析两部影片中不同女性角色的个性特点、行为方式、心历路程与归宿，旨在说明电影作为社会文化的重要载体与美国社会文化形成的巨大互动。片中女性角色的性格特征与社会经历折射出美国社会运动（例如女权运动）和社会热点的诸多方面。20世纪90年代美国电影中对于女权思想的多视角表现意义深远。
