Abstract:

The integration of national capacity and translation capacity has given rise to the novel concept of “National Translation Capacity” (NTC), thereby opening a new research avenue for modern translation studies. NTC not only represents a conceptual expansion of both national capacity and translation capacity, but also signals a convergence of perspectives between pragmatic translation studies and national development studies in the new era. Despite nearly five years of development and the generation of numerous significant research outcomes, as an emerging agenda, NTC naturally entails certain issues that urgently require clarification and refinement. These primarily encompass its disciplinary positioning, the demarcation of its research boundaries, and the elucidation and realization of its systemic functions. This paper argues that the disciplinary affiliation of NTC should be firmly anchored within translation studies, its categorical boundaries should center on translation capacity, and its systemic functions should place greater emphasis on its differentiating function.

摘要：

国家能力与翻译能力的结合，孕育了“国家翻译能力”这一新型概念，为现代翻译研究开辟了一个新的研究议题。它既是国家能力和翻译能力的内涵拓展，也是新时期应用翻译研究与国家发展研究的视域融合。尽管已经有近五年的发展历程并产出了诸多极为重要的成果，但作为新议题，自然还存在相应的问题亟待澄清与完善，其中便包括学科定位、研究范畴界定以及系统功能的明晰与发挥。本文认为，国家翻译能力应将其学科归属定位于翻译学，其范畴边际应围绕翻译能力，而其系统功能则应进一步突出区分化功能。
