Abstract:

The bibliometric software CiteSpace was used to conduct a visual analysis of research articles on metadiscourse that were published in international journals from 2006 to 2024 based on the Web of Science database. In this article, we present the most frequently cited references and prestigious authors, and investigate the knowledge base, research frontiers, and important topics in international metadiscourse studies. The results revealed that metadiscourse research is increasing and developing rapidly, particularly since 2014, with a significant increase in both publication volume and citation count. Moreover, high-impact and high-centrality references mainly focus on metadiscourse conceptions, research models, and research paradigms, and the research topics and important academic issues are academic discourses, metadiscourse markers, corpus data, linguistic features, and disciplinary differences. These findings could help domestic researchers to understand the trends in international metadiscourse research in more detail and provide valuable insights for metadiscourse research in China.

摘要：

本文基于Web of Science数据库，使用文献计量工具CiteSpace软件对发表于2006—2024年的国外元话语研究文献进行了可视化分析，从发文量、引文量、高影响力学者、知识基础、研究前沿与热点等方面对近20年国外元话语研究的整体发展进行了系统分析。研究发现：①从发文量和引文量来看，这一时期的元话语研究发展迅速，尤其是2014年之后，发文量和引文量迅速增长，研究领域和范围不断扩大，研究深度也持续拓展；②具有高影响力和高中介中心性的文献主要聚焦于概念界定、分类模式、研究范式等；③研究前沿与热点主要涉及学术写作、元话语标记、语料库方法、语言特征及学科差异等。希望本文能够为国内研究者了解国外元话语研究的发展动态、把握学科发展的脉络及发展方向提供有益参考。
